HELLO SEA began with a simple wish: to build a life around surfing, and share the freedom and happiness of time by the ocean.
Our first surf experience in Bali became a reason to keep returning to the sea. Through surf travel, work with a surf brand and experience running accommodation, that feeling grew into a wish to create a welcoming base of our own.
In Gerupuk, Lombok, we’re building that base with Asim and Yudha. Learn at your own pace, share stories after a session, and make a little room for slower days. The place will grow with the people who spend time here.

Lessons & skill levels
Can I join if I’ve never surfed before?
Yes. Introductory lessons start with a warm-up, safety guidance and step-by-step practice on land. If you are not confident swimming, tell us before booking so we can discuss a suitable lesson and the conditions.
How many students are there per instructor?
Group lessons have a maximum of two students per instructor (1:2). Choose a private lesson (1:1) if you prefer individual attention.
How do progression lessons and surf guiding work?
These sessions suit surfers who can take off and are practising reaching the lineup. A local guide chooses a suitable spot using the day’s tides and wave forecast, and helps with lineup etiquette and wave-catching timing.
What to bring & what’s included
What should I bring?
Bring swimwear or a rash guard and boardshorts, sunscreen or a sun stick, personal toiletries and a reusable water bottle.
What is included in a lesson?
Lessons include surfboard rental, a rash guard if needed, a local instructor or guide, transport to the surf spot by boat or vehicle, and drinking water.
Surf spots & weather
Where do lessons take place?
We choose a suitable spot each day based on wave size, wind direction, tides and your ability. Options include Gerupuk Inside or Outside, Tanjung Aan and Serangan. The location is confirmed for the day’s conditions.
Do lessons run in rain or bad weather?
Lessons generally run in ordinary rain or brief showers. If strong winds, lightning, heavy rain or high waves make conditions unsafe, we will contact you to reschedule or cancel.
Booking, cancellation & refunds
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least two to three days ahead. Lesson times depend on tides and conditions, so suitable time slots may be limited.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before the lesson: a full refund or rescheduling is available. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable. If we cancel due to unsafe weather, you receive a full refund. For cancellations less than 24 hours before the lesson but before the lesson date, please ask us about the applicable terms before booking.
Photos & rentals
Can I add photos or video of my session?
Professional camera or drone filming is available as an optional extra. Ask about availability, the fee and the filming method when booking. Footage can be used to review your technique or keep a memory of your session.
Can I rent a board or motorbike without a lesson?
Yes. We offer shortboards, longboards and single-fin boards, as well as motorbikes fitted with surf racks. Contact us to check stock and rental rates for your dates.
